better(b) Podcast

Hosted by Vynntana’s Al Otto, the better(b) podcast dives head first into specific 403(b) and 457(b) retirement plan challenges that have long been overlooked. Many of these plans lack the transparency and structure that would enable employers and employees to make better investing decisions. Bringing these issues to light and offering solutions that benefit employees, employers and service providers can address these challenges. Our vision is to include current service providers and industry professionals in helping and joining this crusade.

Episode #1 – Anne Tyler Hall

In this inaugural Episode, Al interviews Anne Tyler Hall, the founder and managing partner of HBL, an ERISA focused boutique law firm headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Anne provides insights on the 403(b) landscape and how she sees the current state of regulation of non-ERISA 403(b) plans.

Episode #2 – Bruce Ashton

In this audio only episode, Al speaks wiht Bruce Ashton of Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP about the specifics of fiduciary duties for 457(b) Plans in the State of California. This far-reaching conversation includes information that can be helpful for 457(b) service providers in California and beyond.

Episode #3 – David Norman

In the third Episode, Al interviews David Norman, the Social Studies Department Chair of Riverside High School in the Durham, NC public school district. David is a 29 year teaching veteran with a “side-passion” for helping others navigate personal finance topics. He advocates for the district’s retirement plans, including the 403(b) plan. David shares his thoughts on how we can work together to better educate the educators on finance and retirement matters.

Episode #4 – Jae Di Lorenzo

In the August episode of better(b), Al Otto chats with Jae Di Lorenzo, Verity Asset Management’s Director of Participant Engagement. Al and Jae discuss the particulars of plan participant education needs, and how the industry can put plan participant needs first. Hear about Jae’s “meet people where they are” mantra of making financial matters easier and more timely for employees everywhere.
